Ozone Decomposition Catalyst: Reliable Protection Against Ozone Emissions

  • Addtime: 2025-09-02 10:31:31 / View: 39

Ozone (O₃) is widely used in industrial and municipal processes due to its strong oxidizing properties. However, uncontrolled ozone emissions can pose significant risks to both human health and equipment integrity. Prolonged exposure may cause respiratory irritation, corrosion of system components, and contribute to environmental pollution. To address these challenges, DEAI CHEM offers the 4x8mesh Ozone Decomposition Catalyst, a manganese dioxide and copper oxide granular catalyst engineered for high efficiency and long-term stability.

Catalyst Composition and Function

The 4x8mesh Ozone Decomposition Catalyst is composed of a carefully balanced mixture of manganese dioxide and copper oxide. It appears black to dark brown and is specifically designed to convert harmful ozone into oxygen through catalytic decomposition. This reaction occurs efficiently at ambient temperatures within a properly designed ozone destruct system, eliminating the need for external heating or additional energy input.

Recommended Operating Conditions

To achieve optimal performance and ensure safe operation, DEAI CHEM recommends the following design and operating parameters:

System Configuration: A vertically oriented vessel with top-down airflow provides the most effective gas distribution.

Material Compatibility: All construction materials in the ozone destruct unit must be resistant to ozone corrosion.

Gas Hourly Space Velocity (GHSV): ≤ 5,000 hr⁻¹ for reliable catalytic contact.

Linear Velocity: ≥ 0.66 m/sec (2.2 ft/sec) to maintain efficient gas flow through the catalyst bed.

Humidity Considerations: In humid air streams, the incoming gas should be pre-heated approximately 9°C (15°F) above ambient to prevent condensation on the catalyst surface, which may otherwise impair performance.

Application Fields

The 4x8mesh Ozone Decomposition Catalyst is widely adopted across industries where ozone emissions are unavoidable, including:

Potable water treatment off-gas: Safely managing residual ozone from sterilization processes.

Wastewater treatment off-gas: Preventing harmful ozone release into the surrounding environment.

Corona treater emissions: Protecting worker safety in the packaging and plastic manufacturing industries.

Office equipment emissions: Mitigating ozone generated from devices such as copiers and printers.

Chemical processing emissions: Reducing ozone discharge from complex industrial reactions.

A Dependable Solution for Emission Control

With its high catalytic activity, durability, and compatibility across a range of industrial conditions, DEAI CHEM’s 4x8mesh Ozone Decomposition Catalyst provides a dependable solution for ozone control. Its ability to operate at ambient temperatures with minimal maintenance requirements makes it a cost-effective choice for companies committed to safety, compliance, and environmental responsibility.
